
This week, the University of Liverpool announced the launch of its first international campus in Bengaluru representing a major chapter in UK–India educational collaboration.
The new campus is due to welcome its inaugural cohort of students in August 2026 and a senior delegation from the University has been in India to mark the milestone.

The announcement of The University of Liverpool, Bengaluru was made at a high-profile event in New Delhi, where the Honourable Union Minister of Education, Dharmendra Pradhan, formally handed over the letter of intent from India’s University Grants Commission to Vice-Chancellor Professor Tim Jones.
The occasion was attended by senior University leaders, government officials, alumni, and key stakeholders.

During this event, the University’s commitment to fostering global academic and industry collaborations was advanced with the signing of three Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), including with the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG), YouWeCan, Dream11 and AstraZeneca.
A second celebratory event was hosted by Lindy Cameron CB OBE, British High Commissioner to India. The event highlighted the significance of the new campus and the broader potential to strengthen links between academics and innovators from both countries.
Speakers included Alison Barrett MBE, Country Director India, British Council, Professor Tariq Ali, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Global Engagement at the University of Liverpool and Vice-Chancellor Professor Tim Jones.

Celebrations in Bengaluru
Following the New Delhi events, the University delegation travelled to Bengaluru, Karnataka for another prestigious launch celebration.

The event was attended by senior ministers from the Government of Karnataka, including the Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Siddaramaiah, Dr Malapalli Chowdareddy Sudhakar, Minister for Higher Education, Shri Dinesh Gundu Rao, Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Shri M.B. Patil, Minister for Large & Medium Industries & Infrastructure Development and Chandru Iyer, British Deputy High Commissioner, Bengaluru.

During this visit, the University also signed additional MoUs, including agreements with IT leader Wipro Limited, TiE Bangalore and Axis Bank.

The new campus in Bengaluru campus builds on the University’s strong links with Bengaluru and the wider State of Karnataka. It will Initially offer subject options in Business Management, Accounting and Finance, Computer Science, Biomedical Sciences and, Game Design, with a broader range of disciplines to follow. In addition, it will also provide exciting study abroad opportunities for UK students.
